"Cho´s Trip to the Post Office" is an investigation of a highscholl killing. This artist book documents the full background of an extreme case story in Niels Bonde´s recent work about the lust for media attention.
In 2007 at Virginia Tech the student Cho Seung-Hui interrupts his murdering rampage because he needs to go back to his dorm and complete his media package which he subsequently sends to NBC. In the videos he complains that he has been wronged in some way and that people have not appreciated him enough. Cho feels that he has not received enough attention, and the attention he has recieved has not been right, and believes he has the right to kill to get his kind of attention - kill, not specific people, but 32 people at random. Mass media, internet and the now ubiquitos camerasare used for anyones selfpromotion and to disseminate information. If you can´t achieve "15 minutes of fame", at least you get "15 minutes of shame".
The images in the book are frozen moments in the incessant media flow. the background of this story is documented in text, paintings, drawings, architectural models as well as prints and videos, and in it´s thorough research offers the reader an opportunity to scrutinize the atmosphere in which the chance to get one´s image in the news matter more than life. December 9. 2011 another highschool shooting with 2 fatal deaths at the same school, Virginia Tech, stresses the need for us to understand these actions in order for us to be able to prevent them.

Mute Science er en artist book med dokumentaion af en serie fotogrammer.

At the crux of Danish artist Emil Salto’s practice is the tension between a desire for direct experience and a yearning to perceive what is beyond its grasp. ...His body of work from the last decade can be seen as an inquiry into “hidden matter,” and the higher level of consciousness often perceived to give access to it. But his investigation is first and foremost intuitive: anchored in and guided by the physicality of his own body, at work in the artistic process.

...Mute Science consists of black-and-white photograms, images produced without camera, solely by the imprint of light on photo paper. As such, they are their materials. While making the series, the artist turned, as he describes it, a “deaf ear to the exacting science of photography.” Taking the camera out of the equation, he relied on intuition and feel, rather than mechanical tools and automated timing. Enveloped in complete darkness—without the aid of red safe light—he repeatedly moved four individual cardboard pieces, together forming a square, inviting the possibility of “mistakes” as he exposed the photo paper to light. Deliberately cutting himself off from the faculty of sight, the artist was guided only by a mental image of space. The works are thus both straight records of their making—the most basic photographic process—and images of worlds beyond, conjured in the mind.

Op lysning staves normalt i et ord. Titlens ureglementerede mellemrum levner konkret plads til refleksion over ordsammensætningens dele og egentlige betydning. Med enkle midler undersøger Ebbe Stub Wittrup sproget og verden i sin lille debutdigtbog.

Ligesom mange andre ord betyder ‘oplysning’ flere forskellige ting: at et rum eller et sted lyses op, rent fysisk. I overført forstand, at der videregives information jfr. OBS (Oplysning til Borgerne om Samfundet). Og historisk set knyttes begrebet oplysning til fornuftsbetonet klarsyn. Oplysningstiden er i den henseende et kapitel for sig.

Ebbe Stub Wittrups digte balancerer et sted mellem konkret poesi og hypperreale hverdagssansninger. De rummer tilsyneladende banale registreringer, som de fleste kan nikke genkendende til. Billeder, som opstår når man har kigget længe på den samme ting, eller det samme ord. Forsøgt at koncentrere sig, mens bevidstheden går egne veje – ud på et sidespor, der løber parallelt med virkeligheden.

Som billedkunstner har Ebbe Stub Wittrup udgivet flere bøger på Space Poetry, senest Presumed Reality, 2011. Et genkommende tema i hans billedkunstneriske praksis er netop forbindelsen mellem mentale rum og fysiske fænomener. Han modtog Statens Kunstfond 3-årige arbejdslegat sidste år.
Op lysning er hans første digtsamling. I 2012 debuterer han i Hvedekorn.
